Continue for Montreal and meet your local licensed guide who will assist with lunch on your own in the historic district of Old Montreal, followed by a visit to Notre-Dame Cathedral, the city’s mother church and a link between art and religion. You will also enjoy the Aura Experience, an immersion into a captivating visual and musical universe with a multimedia display of dynamic light, orchestra music and expressive architecture.

Your hotel on the south shore of Montreal will be the Holiday Inn Longueuil; modern rooms with coffee maker, free high speed internet, flat screen TV’s, heated indoor pool and hot tub.

Day 2: Sat. Sept. 7 ,2024 – Montreal-Trois Rivieres-Quebec City

After breakfast at the hotel, meet your guide for a driving tour of Montreal including visits to St. Patrick’s Basilica, honoring its deep roots in the history of Irish immigration to Canada, and to St.Joseph’s Oratory on Mount Royal where you will have the added treat of listening to an exceptional carillon recital, an instrument with a combined weight of 24,000 lbs, with its bells made of copper and tin alloy.

After lunch on your own, continue your journey with a drive to Trois Rivieres, a bustling historic city on the shores of the Saint Laurence River. Stop at the Basilica of Notre-Dame du Cap, Canada’s national shrine to the Virgin Mary, for a guided tour of this beautiful church with its stone statues cast in France, a Casavant organ with over 5,000 pipes, and stained glass windows.

Continue driving to Quebec City where you will be met by your local licensed guide for a brief orientation of Quebec City. The guide will assist with finding restaurants within walking distance.

After dinner on your own, meet motorcoach and transfer to Holiday Inn Express in Sainte-Foy, a neighborhood west of downtown. Rooms feature mini-refrigerators, microwave, and coffee maker.   MEALS: B

Day 3: Sunday Sept. 8,2024 -Quebec City

Meet your local guide for a full-day tour of the Coast of Beaupre’. Nestled between the St. Lawrence River and the coast’s escarpment, the historic road known as Route of New France will lead you to the world-famous Ste-Anne de Beaupre’ Shrine and Basilica, the oldest pilgrimage site in North America. Guided tour and mass (subject to availability). Lunch on own near the Basilica.

You will also visit the Albert Giles Copper Studio & Museum, celebrated for creating religious works of art including the doors of St. Anne de Beaupre’. You will have the opportunity to attend a workshop on the art of “repousse” and make your own souvenir as well as enjoying tea and cake. No tour would be complete without a stop at Montmorency Falls, one-and-a-half times higher than Niagara Falls.

Return to Quebec City to walk through the Holy Door at the Chapel of the Sacred Heart. Pope Francis declared 2024 a Jubilee Year in commemoration of the 350th anniversary of the foundation of the Quebec diocese. This special celebration allows the Holy Door to be open – something which occurs only every 25 years.

Continue driving tour of the city, viewing the Place D’Armes, Place Royale and the Plains of Abraham. Stop at the Chateau Frontenac, an iconic 5-star hotel, located on one of the most scenic sites of the city. Hear about the famous people and historical events that have made it a famous attraction for guests and visitors (time permitting).

Dinner at a local restaurant.   MEALS: B,D

Day 4: Mon. Sept. 9, 2024 – Quebec City – Rigaud – Schenectady

Departure from Quebec City to the town of Rigaud for a luncheon feast and tour of the Sucrerie de la Montagne.  This old-time sugar shack takes visitors back to the days of the first settlers. Bring your appetite to savor a menu that goes from a “mountain dweller’s soup” to “country ham, meatball stew, meat pies” and a dozen other dishes. There’s a great gift shop with everything maple.

Back on the motorcoach, cross the border at Champlain and continue the return trip home.  MEALS: B, L
