Today we travel to Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley with a stop at the internationally famous Luray Caverns. Discover Eastern America’s largest and most popular caverns, a U.S. Natural Landmark noted for the profuse variety of formations and unsurpassed natural color. From well-lighted, paved walkways explore rooms with ceilings 10 stories high, filled with towering stone columns and crystal-clear pools.
Overnight in Harrisonburg Virginia and enjoy dinner at the Southern Kitchen. (D)
Day two, Sunday October 27, 2024
Arrive in Pigeon Forge Tennessee for a 3-night stay at Dollywood’s DreamMore Resort, surrounded by the beauty of the Great Smoky Mountains, for her fabulous fall fun annual Harvest Festival and “Great Pumpkin LumiNights,” just minutes from Dollywood’s award-winning theme parks. Day three, Monday October 28, 2024
Your ticket to Dollywood Theme Park – the friendliest theme park atmosphere in the world! Full day to enjoy and extend to nights all aglow during Harvest Festival featuring the award-winning Great Pumpkin LumiNights nighttime experience with hundreds of artistic pumpkin sculptures, in whimsical and delightful scenes throughout the park. Entertainment and interactive activities throughout the park and an exciting nightly finale during the best fall festival in the Smokies! (B)
Day four, Tuesday October 29, 2024
Enjoy a leisurely morning at your lovely resort before departing for historic downtown Gatlinburg, spend the afternoon strolling the sidewalks and shops before enjoying a big outdoor adventure on a scenic gondola ride to the summit of Anakeesta – a Cherokee word that means “high ground.”
Return to your lovely resort and enjoy all the amenities! Tonight, we will head out for a fun night at The Island with dinner included at Paula Deen’s Family Kitchen, all served family style! (B,D)
Day five, Wednesday October 30, 2024
Depart the lovely DreamMore Resort and explore the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and the beauty of western North Carolina located in the heart of the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains.
In Cherokee, we travel back to the 18th century at the Oconaluftee Indian Village and witness the struggle between the Cherokee and early European settlers. Here, centuries-old techniques for survival have been passed down from generation to generation and preserved in this living history site.
After a day exploring the Great Smokies, arrive in Asheville North Carolina for a 2-night stay and dinner with your fellow travelers. (B,D)
Day six, Thursday October 31, 2024
Today you will visit the historic Biltmore Estate – Back in 1895, George Vanderbilt II decided to build himself a “little mountain escape” in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. The result was the decadent grandeur of the Biltmore Estate. Today we will tour the sprawling mansion, the manicured grounds, and Antler Hill Village & Winery. Enjoy complimentary wine tasting and experience what it was like to be a wealthy tycoon in the Gilded Age of America.
Dine at Stable Cafe where you will enjoy a 3-course luncheon in a casual bright and airy atmosphere – A southern comfort menu in a historic setting that was once the estate’s horse stable.
Tonight, enjoy dinner on your own in downtown Asheville’s eclectic mix of restaurants and cafés. (B,L)
Day seven, Friday November 1, 2024
We pack up and depart for Staunton Virginia, located in the heart of the Shenandoah Valley – this mountain town is often named one of the most beautiful “Main Streets,” in the United States.
Before we check into our hotel, take a journey on the Virginia Scenic Railway, sit back, and enjoy the ambiance of beautifully renovated passenger cars and a delectable meal as you glide through some of Virginia’s prettiest scenery of the legendary Shenandoah Valley and the Blue Ridge Mountains.
