Description
The Erie Canal Experience begins at Gems Along the Mohawk, and traveling to Lock 18 in Jacksonburg for a guided land tour of the lock.
The guided land tour would observe the operational components of Lock 18 with an overview regarding the 100+ year old Motor Boxes with DC current. The tour would then visit the historic power house featuring the original equipment used to generate power to operate the lock in 1918, one of very few remaining on the Erie Canal.
The land tour will then take short walk on the Canalway Trail to the original Erie Canal prism that is still visible. After a discussion on the original Erie Canal, board the bus and return to Gems Along the Mohawk for cruise on the Erie Canal.
Upon boarding the vessel, everyone will receive a ‘Taste of NY Snack Pack’ to enjoy on the cruise to Lock 18. You will have a specialized narration about the electrical components of the lock, a trip through Lock 18 and then return to Gems Along the Mohawk for lunch at the Waterfront Grille!

We encourage you to book early to accommodate any special needs and to assure that members of your party will be seated together. We reserve the right to assign seats when necessary.
CERTIFICATES/REWARDS/CREDIT: If you have a gift card/certificate, travel club reward or on account credit, we ask that reservations are made through the telephone or in store.
CANCELLATIONS: All cancellations must be called-in during regular business hours, Monday – Friday 8:00 am 5:00 pm. $20 per person fee plus cost for tickets, meals and other non-recoverable expenses. Cancellations within 48 business hours prior to departure are non-refundable. Casino day trips are non-refundable but transferable. Ballgame, Radio City and Ticketed events are non-refundable but are transferable.
Cancellations MUST be made directly with a reservationist. Cancellations made by email or voice mail cannot be accepted. NO REFUNDS FOR CANCELLATIONS WITHIN 48 BUSINESS HOURS PRIOR TO DEPARTURE ON ALL TOURS. Travel Club promos & Reward Certificates are non-refundable. Casino Trips are non-refundable but are transferable.
