Day Three, Thursday, September 28, 2023

This morning we will bring Savannah’s history to life as our guide transports you through the unique history of Georgia’s First City on a 100-minute fully narrated trolley tour of this beautiful city! Lunch will be included at Paula Dean’s Lady & Sons. After lunch we travel to the beaches of Tybee Island, a quaint and quirky little beach town, with swaying beach grasses, indigenous wildlife and five miles of pristine shoreline, here we will catch sight of Georgia’s oldest and tallest active lighthouse.

Return to your hotel and refresh after a full day of touring. Tonight, enjoy a relaxing dinner cruise along the Savannah River onboard the beautiful Savannah Riverboat Cruises, while enjoying the lovely sunset!   Meals: B, L, D

Day Four, Friday, September 29, 2023

Today we discover the Golden Isles, nestled on the Georgia coast to explore its beautiful barrier islands – hop aboard a trolley for a St. Simons Trolley Tour, as you get lost in the storied past of St. Simons Island, all told by a local himself. Relax in style as you are taken to see dozens of points of interest throughout the island on this 1.5-hour guided tour. After the tour, get a closer look at St. Simons Island’s historic Lighthouse Museum, where you can climb the lighthouse tower and explore the keeper’s dwelling, which houses museum exhibits and a gift shop.

Journey to Jekyll Island, take a moment to relax and immerse yourself in the laid-back island lifestyle and enjoy an early dinner, where low-country dishes will feed your stomach and your soul. Tour Jekyll Island on a guided tram tour of the 240-acre historic district, including entry into one historic cottage built by prominent members of the “Millionaire’s Club”. Meanwhile, at the Georgia Sea Turtle Center, learn about sea turtles and the efforts being made for their rehabilitation.

Day Five, Saturday, September 30, 2023

This morning we will depart Savannah, Georgia, and travel over into South Carolina to explore America’s favorite Island, the beautiful Hilton Head Island for an overnight stay on this coastal island paradise! We will learn the remarkable culture of the Gullah people of the South Carolina Lowcountry, narrated by native Gullah folks as we travel through the Gullah communities on Hilton Head Island. After our tour, discover the charm and allure of picture-perfect Harbour Town! You will have free time to explore and enjoy lunch at your leisure and time to visit the historic Harbour Town Lighthouse, with its iconic red and white stripes, a stunning aerial view of the marina for those who climb to the top. Next, explore Hilton Head Island by Sea and enjoy an unforgettable experience, with scenic landscapes, and wildlife. You will observe dolphins as well as a variety of shore birds, such as egrets, herons, pelicans, and others.

Before checking in to your resort, you will enjoy dinner at The Crazy Crab, a spectacular waterfront dining experience with breathtaking lowcountry sunsets, and the largest saltwater fish tank in town.  Meals:  B, D

Day Six, Sunday, October 1, 2023

This morning we will depart for Charleston. En route we will stop for a guided carriage tour in Beaufort, South Carolina, named “The South’s Best Small Town”. Time for lunch on your own and shopping in historic Beaufort.

Upon arrival in Charleston, South Carolina, we will tour the lovely Magnolia Plantation and Gardens – South Carolina’s most popular garden, unlike most of America’s gardens, which are formal and seek to control nature, Magnolia cooperates with nature to create a tranquil landscape like Eden where humanity and nature are in harmony. Observe the wildlife as you ride the Nature Train through the cypress swamp. Your guide will point out birds, alligators, turtles, and more.

Our lodging for the next two nights is on Kiawah Island at the lovely Andell Inn. Enjoy an evening on your own to relax by the pool, stroll along the beach, or explore Freshfields Village!     Meals: B

Day Seven, Monday, October 2, 2023

There are endless ways to explore Charleston. With so many sights to see, so much rich history to uncover, let us get started…… we’re off to explore Charleston with its southern elegance and urban charm, in a rich coastal culture!

Following some free time on your own, we will enjoy a relaxing cruise of scenic Charleston Harbor that will also include a visit to historic Fort Sumter, site of the first shots that started America’s Civil War.

Return to your hotel for a Kiawah Tradition, Taste of Mingo Point Oyster Roast and BBQ—Lowcountry boil flavors pair with tranquil marsh views natural setting—right on the banks of the Kiawah River.    Meals: B, D

Day Eight, Tuesday, October 3, 2023

Before we depart Charleston and begin our journey north, you will enjoy picturesque Cypress Gardens on an exciting swamp boat ride, and a unique view of our vast garden landscape. Revel in the reflections of the tall bald cypress and tupelo trees mirrored in the dark, black water, as you paddle along looking for alligators, birds, turtles, lily pads and other swamp life.     Meals: B
