Day One – SUNDAY, OCTOBER 1 2023
A harvest bountiful getaway to check out the fall foliage and the birthplace of the cultivated cranberry – Plimoth Plantation and a Thanksgiving Feast. Welcome to one of the country’s first settlements, America’s hometown of PLYMOUTH – Plimoth Plantation changing its name to “Plimoth Patuxet,” in honor of Wampanoag name for region. The new name will drop the word “plantation” to better represent the fact that the site includes historical reenactments of both the 17th-century English colony and the Wampanoag tribe.
Meet your LOCAL GUIDE then time for lunch on your own on the waterfront.
Today you will rediscover the earliest beginnings of the country. Picture stops will be made at Plymouth ROCK, the traditional site of disembarkation of the Pilgrims in 1620 and at the FOREFATHER’S MONUMENT, the largest, solid granite monument in the United States. She stands facing the harbor, welcoming those who come by water.
Admission is included to board the MAYFLOWER II, a reproduction of the ship that brought the Pilgrims to the New World. Learn about the 1620 voyage, the perils of maritime travel, and the tools of the 17th century navigation.
