Today begins with Breakfast at your hotel before departing with our local guide, Bruce Michael, and begin our day in the Hamptons.  Bruce is a long-time resident of the Hamptons and retired producer of the Radio City Rockettes.  Bruce will escort us through historic Southampton Village, the oldest English settlement in New York State.  Travel through former farmlands, now the location of the estates of its celebrated residents.  We will stop at one of America’s best beaches: Cooper’s Beach, it is a must see.

Our second stop is the heart of Southampton Village’s shopping district. Your Guide will point out famous  landmarks including, Hildreth’s, America’s oldest department store, the charming boutiques of Job’s Lane and the delightful eateries.

We continue to America’s most expensive zip codes of East Hampton, Sagaponack, Bridgehampton and East Hampton traveling past some of the most beautiful homes in the Hamptons, From Steven Spielberg to Ina Garten, your Guide will be sure to tell you who lives in many of the homes on the route.

On arrival in Montauk, hear the history from its origins as the home of the Montaukett Indians to its development as a fishing village and now the home of beautiful properties, a quaint downtown and magnificent Harbor. Lunch stop on your own at the seaside Village of Montauk, offering an array of restaurants with varied cuisines.

Depart Montauk Village and travel to the very end of Long Island and visit the Montauk Lighthouse.

Visit the oldest lighthouse in New York and walk the grounds for fantastic views.

On the way back to Southampton, we will travel to East Hampton Village where we will have time to stroll through the Village considered one of the most beautiful in America. Continuing, we will travel through Hamptons horse country, known for its sprawling horse farms and the Hamptons Horse Show.

Thursday, October 19, 2023

Before checking out this morning we will enjoy Breakfast and then meet our guide, Bruce, who will join us at our hotel to begin our tour of the North Fork, Long Island.  Your route will take you back to the South Fork where you will explore the North Side of South Fork. On the route to Sag Harbor, there will be a stop at Conscience Point, the exact location where 20 families from Lynn, Massachusetts landed in June of 1640 to establish the oldest English Settlement in New York State – Southampton, its history will come alive as you view the spot where time stands still.

Founded in 1707, Sag Harbor’s port was the center of foreign and coastal trade and designated by President George Washington in 1789 as an official port of entry into the United States.  You will then view Sag Harbor’s Long Beach, in route to the Sag Harbor Whaling Museum.

Tour Whaling Museum – objects related to the village’s whaling history, as well as the presentation of contemporary exhibits and events that reflect the culture of the village today.

Next, tour the Whaler’s Church built when Sag Harbor was at the height of prosperity and 63 whaling ships called Sag Harbor home port.

Travel to Sag Harbor Village for free time and lunch on own with a wide array of restaurants to choose.

Depart Sag Harbor and journey to the East End’s North Fork. Bidding farewell to Sag Harbor, we will cross its bridge into the Peninsula of North Haven, to the Shelter Island Ferry, the only connection between Shelter Island and the South Fork. After the 10-minute crossing you will be on Shelter Island, an 8000-acre enchanted enclave. The Nature Conservancy owns one third of the Island maintaining its vast tracts of forests, wetlands, and preserves. Shelter Island’s history will be described as we wind our way through this magical Island nestled between the North and South Forks.

As we arrive at the North Side of Shelter Island, passing by Shelter Island Heights, we will board the North Shelter Island Ferry to the North Fork, landing in Greenport, the former heart of Long Island’s oyster industry, it is now a vibrant destination for visitors from all over the world.

We will pass through Greenport and travel along the North Fork Wine Trail. At one time, the farms of the North Fork were dedicated to potatoes and corn, and now the East End’s wine industry has grown to astronomical proportions.  Encompassing over 40 wineries, Long Island wines are more popular than ever. As you travel through the many picturesque Villages of the North Fork, we will pass the many vineyards and tasting rooms that make this area a popular destination throughout the year.

We will arrive at RGNY – Known for its excellent wine,  this stop is the perfect finale of your journey through the Hamptons before departing for Home.  (CB)
