Day Two, Friday, December 5, 2025
Enjoy breakfast voucher at your hotel before we depart with GUIDE for Mount Vernon Christmas, the estate of George Washington, America’s most visited historic house, overlooking the Potomac River. Mount Vernon is both George Washington’s home and final resting-place. This Southern Plantation details the life of the “Father of Our Country” while providing fascinating insights into Colonial times.
Enjoy free time for lunch and shopping on own in Old Town Alexandria. A beautifully preserved historic district on the Potomac River, a place George Washington called home. Old Town’s cobblestone streets and red brick sidewalks attracts everyone with some of the best restaurants and historic attractions.
Later this afternoon we regroup and visit Christ Church in Old Town Alexandria, a beautiful example of Georgian church architecture, dating from 1773. Silver plaques mark the pews of George Washington.
Arrive at the United States Botanic Garden, one of the oldest botanic gardens in North America. See the Poinsettias displayed for the season.
Enjoy a relaxing Dinner after a day of touring! Then, a Holiday Tradition at the Ford’s Theatre, A Christmas Carol…. Join the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future as they lead the miserly Ebenezer Scrooge on a journey of transformation and redemption. This music-infused production captures the magic and joy of Dickens’s Yuletide classic
Stop by Ellipse Park across from the White House. This is the site of nightly choral performances, a Nativity scene, a burning Yule log, the National Christmas Tree and a spectacular display of lighted Christmas trees representing each state and territory of the United States. Holiday cheer abounds at the U.S. Botanic Garden! Despite the cold winter outside, the Conservatory boasts a tropical paradise, one of the largest indoor decorated trees in Washington, D.C., and a showcase of poinsettia and their plant cousins. It wouldn’t be the winter holiday season without the fantasy train display in the East Gallery, which chugs along a track through imaginative structures created with plant materials. Many of the capital’s landmark buildings, all made from natural materials, will be on display. Come in from the cold and enjoy the sights, scents, and sounds of Season’s Greenings
