Description

MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 27, 2021

Welcome to the sandy shores of CAPE COD.  Extending some 70 miles into the sea, the Cape is home to quaint colonial villages and natural beauty.  A place to reclaim childhood memories!

Meet your GUIDE in SANDWICH-the oldest town on Cape Cod for a tour.  You will view the Village Green, the Great Salt Marsh, a Cranberry Bog, Cape Cod Bay, and the site of one of America’s largest glass factories. This quaint and quiet seaside community is the hometown of Thornton Burgess, naturalist and author of 170 children’s books.

Next will travel to HYANNIS where your guide will conduct a tour including the John F. Kennedy Memorial, the Korean War Memorial, Hyannis port and a view of St. Francis Xavier Church, the summer parish of the Kennedy Family.

Check into the BAYSIDE RESORT, followed by DINNER included this evening.

TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 28, 2021

BREAKFAST is included this morning at your hotel.

You will board the 9:00 am high-speed ferry to the island of MARTHA’S VINEYARD today.  Upon arrival at 10:00 am, you will have a SIGHTSEEING TOUR. You will learn about the history and lifestyles of the islanders as you pass through Vineyard Haven. There will be free time for lunch and shopping in the historic whaling town of Edgartown.  Complete your day in Oak Bluffs.  Stroll through “Cottage City” with its brightly painted cottages and decorative “gingerbread” trim.

DINNER is included this evening back on the mainland.

WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 29, 2021

BREAKFAST is included this morning at your hotel.

Your GUIDE will once again meet you at your hotel for a full day of touring.  You will travel historic ROUTE 6A, the Old King’s Highway, a scenic byway winding through centuries of Cape   Cod history.  It winds past hundreds of historic structures which characterize its early development. View the Eastham Windmill, a Cape Cod Lighthouse and visit the CAPE COD NATIONAL SEASHORE VISITOR’S CENTER.  Sand dunes and the ocean surround you as you approach “Land’s End” – PROVINCETOWN.  You are now at the extreme tip of Cape Cod.  Formerly known as the “Province Lands” the pilgrims landed here first before they decided to settle across the Bay in Plymouth.  Take some time to enjoy the wonderful variety of restaurants (lunch on own), shops, and galleries that make this artists/fishermen village so unique.

This afternoon board an excursion vessel for an amazing experience of WHALE WATCHING.  You will travel into the natural habitat of a diverse marine environment including birds that migrate here from all over the Atlantic, and fish which use these shallow waters to feed.  Try to spot Humpback, Minke, and Fin Whales going about their daily business. An onboard naturalist will introduce you to everything you see and will answer any of your questions about the whales, birds, fish and lighthouses. (IF THE WHALE WATCH IS NOT OPERATING, DUE TO WEATHER CONDITIONS – AN ALTERNATE EXCURSION WILL BE SUBSTITUTED)

LOBSTER DINNER is included this evening. Alternate entrees will be available for “landlubbers”

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 30, 2021

BREAKFAST is included this morning at your hotel.

Time to pack up and check out!  Travel with our local guide to America’s Hometown – PLYMOUTH.

Home of our Pilgrim Fathers and one of the country’s first settlements, it is well known in the United States for its historical value. A picture stop will be made at the Forefather’s Monument, the largest, solid granite monument in the United States. She stands facing the harbor, welcoming those who come by water. A picture stop will also be made at the Plymouth Rock, the traditional site of disembarkation of the Pilgrims in 1620. View the newly restored mayflower II, a reproduction of the ship that brought the Pilgrims to the New World.

Admission is included this afternoon to THE PILGRIM HALL MUSEUM. Built in 1824, this gallery museum is the nation’s oldest continuously operating public museum. Pilgrim Hall houses an unmatched collection of Pilgrim possessions.

Enjoy free time for lunch on your own on the waterfront, before we bid farewell!
