Day 1: Start your Country Christmas Vacation at The Oglebay Winter Festival of Lights at the Oglebay Resort in Wheeling, West Virginia, is one of the nation’s largest and most extravagant holiday light shows in the U.S – a holiday tradition since 1985 began at with a three-mile drive throughout the resort. Today, the narrated holiday lights tour with our step on tour guide now covers more than 300 acres over a six-mile drive throughout the park. Enjoy this memorable experience with a Festival of Lights Buffet and Entertainment! (Dinner)
Day 2: After BREAKFAST, we bid farewell to Wheeling and travel to Nashville, Tennessee for A Country Christmas staying 3-nights at Gaylord Opryland Resort (615) 889-1000 – there is no better way to celebrate the season!
It’s everything Christmas, millions of twinkling lights and you’ll be amazed at the indoor gardens, cascading waterfalls and an indoor river with their very own Delta flatboat. Tonight, you will want to get yourself acclimated to all this resort offers including several restaurants to choose from to enjoy a leisurely dinner on your own. After dinner stroll around viewing this winter wonderland, enjoy it with a ride included on the Delta Riverboat Christmas Cruise. (Breakfast)
Day 3: Enjoy a leisurely BREAKFAST at your resort and if you haven’t had an opportunity to take a ride on the Delta Riverboat Christmas Cruise, this time would make for a relaxing morning.
This afternoon, on the General Jackson Showboat Luncheon Cruise, experience a genuine Nashville Christmas with some of the finest country musicians and singers that Music City has to offer. Beautiful stage lighting, colorful costumes and blend in a hearty dose of country comedy and you’ve got a Christmas show like none other. You’ll hear classic songs made famous by Nashville stars, a rip-roarin’ dueling fiddle challenge with “Twas the Night Before Christmas” and our own comedic version of “Twelve Days of Christmas”.
After your cruise, take advantage of this time for ICE! This winter’s whimsical wonderland features three-dimensional ice monuments and colorful ice sculptures, many of which are more than 25 feet in length. The show’s theme this year is “A Christmas Story.” You can experience Christmas Story scenes such as The Old Man’s Major Award, Aunt Clara’s pink nightmare, and the ultimate triple dog dare at the school’s flagpole. All scenes are hand-carved from 2 million pounds of ice.
Enjoy the evening and all the attractions throughout the resort. Join the nightly tree lighting on the Magnolia Lawn to sing Christmas carols and watch our spectacular tree lighting and view the nativity scene. How about a Reindeer Encounter, this is Santa’s favorite animals and learn more about this truly magical species. If shopping is on your list of “to do’s”, Opry Mills is Tennessee’s largest outlet, value retail, shopping, dining and entertainment destination, located across the parking lot from your resort. Day 5: Today after BREAKFAST we bid farewell to Nashville and the lovely Gaylord Opryland Resort and begin our travels through Kentucky and begin our sights on Akron, Ohio for our final overnight and FAREWELL DINNER with new friends! Our visit to Akron will begin at Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens, a magnificent Historic 65-room Tudor Revival manor House. Their theme this year is a fun one – Classic Christmas Movies and TV Shows.
Enjoy a wonderful meal at Hudson’s Restaurant, a unique dining experience and a perfect ending.
Day 6: After BREAKFAST, we depart for home from this wonderful holiday journey – a tour not to miss, of Christmas dreams come true. Give yourself or someone you love, the gift of holiday magic!
