Highlight of your tour are these unique, “mushroom houses” dating from 1921 to 1950’s, built out of native stone and sport cedar shake roofs.
Depart for Mackinaw City.
Meet your guide for a fascinating ride across the Mighty Mac. At one time this was the longest suspension bridge in the world. Hear the dramatic tales of the brave iron workers who built this massive structure. Your guide will provide more than hearsay – in many cases these are eyewitness accounts of local history.
Ferry from St. Ignace to Mackinac Island – As you step upon the island you will feel like you have stepped back in time. Horse drawn vehicles are the only means of transportation on the Island.
Evening is free to explore the island at your leisure
Accommodations for the next two nights are at the Bicycle Street Inn along Main Street, on the Island.
The lovely Grand Hotel, America’s summer hotel with the world’s longest front porch, the bucket list destination for many. This aroma you smell, could be the lilacs or the fudge or the local transportation, the only in town are the horse drawn vehicles!
