Day 1: Saturday, June 23, 2018

Overnight in Toledo, Ohio

Day 2: Sunday, June 24, 2018

Depart Toledo for The Henry Ford Museum. Explore its many exhibits include;

  • Driving America: The World’s Premier Automotive Exhibition Centered around an unparalleled collection of historically significant vehicles
  • “With Liberty & Justice for All”, a groundbreaking exhibit that explores the proud and often painful evolution of American freedom
  • Heroes of the Sky: Adventures in Early Flight will be awed and inspired by people’s stories from the first forty years of aviation
  • Presidential Limousines Among the nationally renowned artifacts of the Museum are the vehicles in which 20th-century American presidents traveled
  • Made in America Manufacturing and Power are the two sections of this exhibit that explores the legacy of American innovators from the 18th to 20th centuries who made America a manufacturing superpower! Hundreds of artifacts, including operating steam engines, help tell their stories.

Lunch on own at the Henry Ford Museum

Depart the Henry Ford Museum for Clare, Michigan where nine members of the local police department banded together to save a historic business dubbed “Cops and Doughnuts.”  Enjoy an afternoon snack before continuing to Houghton Lake, Michigan

Arrive Lakeside Resort & Conference Center for our first Michigan overnight in Houghton Lake

This evening, relax with dinner and the show The GORDON LIGHTFOOT Tribute. This show replicates the songs and styles of a Gordon Lightfoot concert. Enjoy the classic tunes made famous by the Canadian balladeer who wrote about the woods and the water, sailing ships, broken hearts and lost loves.

DAY 3: Monday, June 25, 2018

A hot breakfast is included in the breakfast room before checking out and departing this morning with your guide for Charlevoix, Michigan.

Arrive Castle Farms and enjoy a walking and tram tour with your guide through the rich history of Castle Farms, from its original construction 1918 and the landscaped gardens, which are breathtaking.

Lunch is included at Castle Farms before we depart with our guide to continue our tour of this lovely city, highlighting the more than thirty homes designed by local architect Earl Young. Dating from 1921 to the 1950’s, these unique “mushroom houses” are built out of native stone and sport cedar shake roofs.

Depart for Mackinac City here our ferry will take us to Mackinac Island, “The Jewel of the Great Lakes.” Tonight’s accommodations at the Bicycle Street Inn, superbly located right in the heart of downtown, where all you hear are the clatter of horse-drawn carriages, A truly memorable experience!

Day 4: Tuesday, June 26, 2018

Enjoy a continental breakfast before we check out of the Bicycle Street Inn and board the horse-drawn carriages for a tour of Mackinac Island.  For anyone who has seen the movie “Somewhere in Time” there will be moments of déjà vu during the tour of this picturesque island. The tour concludes at the Grand Hotel for their famous Buffet Lunch. Enjoy the rest of your afternoon to take time and walk around the hotel or sit on their famous porch.

Later this afternoon we will board the ferry to St. Ignace, arriving at Best Western in Sault Ste. Marie, Mi.  After check-in, we will visit the Soo Locks Visitor Center before dinner at Antlers Restaurant.

Day 5: Wednesday, June 27, 2018

After Breakfast, we check-out and depart for Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum at Whitefish Point in Paradise, MI and the White Fish Point Lighthouse on Lake Superior in Michigan’s scenic Upper Peninsula.  It’s hard to imagine the hundreds of shipwrecks lie hidden in the cold depths…in some cases, just below surface. Each one has a dramatic story. Discover these dramatic stories, which features a permanent exhibit dedicated to the Edmund Fitzgerald. You can also discover the true stories of the men and women of the Lighthouse Service, as well as the men that came to be known as “Storm Warriors.”

Next, depart for Tahquamenon Falls for lunch included, before the walk to the falls with a park ranger.

Then we will travel to Munising, MI and arrive at Pictured Rocks Boat Cruise for a 2 ½ hour cruise before Dinner at the Dogpatch Restaurant.  Overnight in Munising, Michigan at AmericInn Lodge & Suites.

DAY 6: Thursday, June 28, 2018

This morning, following breakfast and checking out, we Arrive Kitch-iti-kipi, one of Michigan’s largest natural freshwater spring. The name means big cold water and is sometimes referred to as The Big Spring. Its original name was the “Mirror of Heaven” given to it by the early Native Americans.

Noon we depart and return to St Ignace and meet your guide for a fascinating ride across the Mighty Mac. At one time, this was the longest suspension bridge in the world. Hear the dramatic tales of the brave iron workers who built this massive structure.

Arrive Thunder Bay Resort, a friendly family resort, here experience the beauty of Northern Michigan and a buffet dinner followed by entertainment….playing some of your old favorites!

Day 7: Friday, June 29, 2018

Enjoy Breakfast in the Clubhouse at Thunder Bay Resort, before spending the day exploring beautiful Alpena! A warm and friendly port in Northern Michigan on Lake Huron!

We will visit The Great Lakes Maritime Heritage Center, a visitor center for the Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary, featuring exciting exhibits including a full size replica wooden Great Lakes schooner and shipwreck where visitors can walk the decks, feel a Great Lakes storm, and touch the massive timbers of the boat resting on the lake bottom … without getting wet!

Then, depart on a glass bottom boat tour cruise to explore the shipwrecks of the Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary.  Continue exploring the Great Lakes Maritime Heritage Center, before departing for an enjoyable gourmet lunch today at Stoney Acres Winery including a choice of wine or Shipwreck Soda.

Meet the Docent from Presque Isle lighthouse, a complex of three historic buildings including a lighthouse tower and two keeper’s residences. Located on the Lake Huron shoreline near Presque Isle Harbor, the “New Presque Isle Light” is the tallest lighthouse tower accessible by the public on the Great Lakes. For a nominal fee, you may climb the 130 steps to the top of the tower for a spectacular view. An unattached 1905 keeper’s dwelling has been painstakingly restored. It is now a museum that provides visitors with an opportunity to learn about local history, as well as how keepers and their families lived.

Back at Thunder Bay Resort, this evening, step back in time as you board a horse drawn carriage that takes you into the woods to enjoy the scenery, the smell of pine, and the ever-changing face of the Thunder Bay River as the horses make their way to the beautiful Elk Antler Log Cabin.  An elegant yet rustic atmosphere with a blazing fire in a massive split stone fireplace welcomes you…Warm yourself by the fire and savor the delicious aromas put forth by the twin antique wood cook stoves that is preparing a delicious gourmet meal!

Day 8: Saturday, June 30, 2018

Enjoy Breakfast at your resort before checking out and departing for Frankenmuth, Michigan’s Little Bavaria!  Take in a German town experience on a tour of Frankenmuth and lunch included at the Bavarian Inn, under the Glockenspeil!

Visit BRONNER’S CHRISTmas WONDERLAND, a fascinating year-round attraction for all ages. Bronner’s was founded in 1945 by Wally Bronner. When Wally painted his first sign, little did he dream that his small business would one day become the world’s largest Christmas store.

Do you have a seating preference for the motor coach?
