Tour Itinerary

MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 17, 2018

Welcome to the sandy shores of CAPE COD.  Extending some 70 miles into the sea, the Cape is home to both natural beauty and quaint colonial villages.  You can walk pristine beaches, revel in the arts and culture, and reclaim childhood memories of seashells, sandcastles, and saltwater taffy.

Travel to HYANNIS where your guide will conduct a tour including the John F. Kennedy Memorial, the Korean War Memorial, Hyannis port and a view of St. Francis Xavier Church, the summer parish of the Kennedy Family.

Check into the Red Jacket RIVIERA BEACH RESORT and DINNER will be included this evening.

TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 18, 2018

EXTENDED CONTINENTAL BREAKFAST is included this morning at your resort.  Then you will meet your LOCAL GUIDE for a full day of touring.  You will travel historic ROUTE 6A, the Old King’s Highway, a scenic byway winding through centuries of Cape Cod history.  It winds past hundreds of historic structures which characterize its early development. View the Eastham Windmill, a Cape Cod Lighthouse and visit the CAPE COD NATIONAL SEASHORE VISITOR’S CENTER.  Sand dunes and the ocean surround you as you approach “Land’s End” – PROVINCETOWN.  You are now at the extreme tip of Cape Cod.  Formerly known as the “Province Lands” the pilgrims landed here first before they decided to settle across the Bay in Plymouth.  Take some time to enjoy the wonderful variety of restaurants, shops, and galleries that make this artists/fishermen village so unique.

Board an excursion vessel for an amazing experience of WHALE WATCHING.  You will travel into the natural habitat of a diverse marine environment including birds that migrate here from all over the Atlantic, and fish which use these shallow waters to feed.  Try to spot Humpback, Minke, and Fin Whales going about their daily business. An onboard naturalist will introduce you to everything you see and will answer any of your questions about the whales, birds, fish and lighthouses.

OR YOU MAY CHOOSE TO STAY ON DRY LAND:

For anyone not wishing to go on a whale watch admission is included on a DUNE TOUR.  Ride along the shoreline of the protected lands of the Cape Cod National Seashore. Your guide will point out the “dune shacks” where famous artists and writers became inspired to create their art.

Return to your Resort and DINNER is included this evening.

WEDNESDAY SEPTEMBER 19, 2018

EXTENDED CONTINENTAL BREAKFAST is included this morning at your resort.  Then, once again your LOCAL GUIDE will meet you at your resort and escort you to the HY-LINE DOCKS where you will board the high-speed ferry to the stunning island of NANTUCKET.  Upon arrival, your guide will point out the restaurants, galleries, shops, and museums that are within walking distance to the dock.  Admission is included on a NANTUCKET ISLAND TOUR at a time to be specified by your guide.  Lunch and shopping are on your own. Please remember to wear comfortable walking shoes for the cobblestone streets and brick sidewalks that line Nantucket’s downtown area.

LOBSTER DINNER is included this evening back on the mainland.  (Alternate entrées will be available)

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 20, 2018

EXTENDED CONTINENTAL BREAKFAST is included this morning at your resort before checking out.  Meet your LOCAL GUIDE and travel to CARVER for a visit to the FLAX POND FARMS CRANBERRY BOGS.  Your “bog guide” will show you examples of an existing bog, currently in production and will discuss the stages of the cranberry growing process.  There are two methods of harvesting (wet and dry) and you may even see it happening. Learn from the expert cranberry growers about farming and harvesting this fruit named “craneberry” by the Pilgrims.

Travel a short distance into PLYMOUTH – America’s Hometown is the home of our Pilgrim Fathers and one of the country’s first settlements, it is well known in the United States for its historical value.  A picture stop will be made at the Forefather’s Monument, the largest, solid granite monument in the United States.  She stands facing the harbor, welcoming those who come by water. A picture stop will also be made at the Plymouth Rock, the traditional site of disembarkation of the Pilgrims in 1620.

There will be free time for lunch, shopping and exploring the waterfront area.  Then we Bid Farewell to our guide and depart for home.
