Tour Itinerary

Day 1 – Saturday, April 7, 2018 – Richmond VA

Travel south to our overnight stay in Richmond, VA. to refresh and continue our travels in the morning.

Day 2 –  Sunday, April 8, 2018 – Jekyll Island

Arrive Georgia for an overnight on Jekyll Island at the Holiday Inn Beach Resort and later enjoy dinner at the Jekyll Island Seafood Company, then a walk along the beach or just enjoy the beauty of the ocean.

Day 3 – Monday, April 9, 2018 – The Golden Isles of Georgia and Savannah

Start our day with a Buffet Breakfast at the hotel, before beginning our Tour of Jekyll Island.  Here, on this small barrier island off Georgia’s coast, they shaped a private world of grand cottage residences restored in the Jekyll Island National Historic Landmark District.  You will board a tram for a tour of this 240-acre, riverfront compound, where History will come alive by your professionally trained guide.

Depart the island for the largest of Georgia’s fabled Golden Isles, St. Simons Island that continues to reveal to present day visitors the remarkable beauty and fascinating history of this place first called San Simeon by 16th century Spanish explorers.  On the north end of the island is the hauntingly beautiful Christ Church built in 1736.  Stop at the St. Simons Lighthouse, an 1872 brick lighthouse, a keeper’s dwelling, 1890 oil house and a Victorian gazebo.  Don’t miss the wonderful gift shop at the Lighthouse.

Depart for Savannah where we will Check-in to the Fairfield Inn & Suites Historic to refresh before our evening on the beautiful riverboat, the Georgia Queen, for an authentic southern cultural experience a Gospel Dinner Cruise!  Sounds of real “southern” gospel music being performed by one of the best black Gospel Choirs in the Low Country and a bountiful buffet serving up classic dishes of the south.  A cultural and culinary experience you don’t want to miss!  Return to the hotel for a good night’s rest.

Day 4 – Tuesday, April 10, 2018 – Tour of Savannah

Enjoy a Buffet Breakfast before exploring Savannah’s indescribable charm, natural beauty, rich history and good old-fashioned Southern hospitality, “The Hostess City of the South.”  The tour will take you through 2.2 square mile National Historic District of one of the most beautiful cities in America. Tour makes a stop at the Temple Mickve Israel the second oldest Temple in the United States, dating back to 1733.  Also, you will enjoy a guided tour of the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist.

Now the fun begins, at the NEW America Prohibition Museum.  The first and only museum in the United States dedicated to the history of Prohibition.   Travel back in time to the early 1900s, as anti-alcohol rallies swept the nation and the “booze problem” was pushed to the fore-front of American politics.  Knock on the door to the Speak-Easy and give the password to enter, where you can have an alcoholic or non-alcoholic specialty drink.  Enjoy the fun and knowledgeable costumed docents!

Return to the hotel to refresh and relax before dinner this evening at Corleone’s Trattoria  (menu TBA)

Following dinner, we depart for the Savannah Theatre, Entertainment Extravaganza…..enlivens the city’s nightlife in the refurbished C.1818 Historic Savannah Theatre.  Production tba…….  Don’t Miss It!

Day 5 – Wednesday, April 11, 2018 – Charleston, South Carolina

Breakfast at the hotel, check out and depart hotel and travel through the South Carolina low country

Visit the Rose Hill Mansion, the South’s most beautiful plantation, a grand house built in 1858.  Surrounded by breathtaking landscape with live oaks draped in Spanish moss.  Lunch included here.

Travel to Charleston and the picturesque Wadmalaw Island for a tour of the Charleston Tea Plantation, America’s ONLY tea garden, learn about the history of tea, the harvesting and production of our own American Classic Tea; hear the story of the Tea Plantation on a scenic trolley ride through the tea fields.

Check-in to the SpringHill Suites, refresh for Dinner this evening at Gilligan’s Seafood Restaurant.

Day 6 – Thursday, April 12, 2018 – Tour of Charleston Historic District

Start our day with a buffet Breakfast at the hotel, then we begin the tour of Charleston Historic District.  Visit the Citadel, the Military College of South Carolina, where you will have the opportunity to visit the Cadet’s Chapel and on to the Battery, one of Charleston’s most historic sites, with its scenic promenade and historic park.  The Battery, a fortified seawall at the southernmost tip of the Charleston peninsula with incredible views of Fort Sumter.  Lunch on own in the City Market with free time for shopping.

Tour Magnolia Plantation & Gardens, the oldest public gardens in America.  Board a tram to tour the Audubon Swamp Garden, a unique world where trees grow from the water, islands float, and wild creatures live. Each year, egrets, herons, and other waterfowl nest within feet of the walking path.

Return to the hotel to relax and refresh, before departing for dinner at The Charleston Crab House on James Island, a wonderful waterfront view where you can enjoy the beautiful sunset & the fun!

Sit back and relax while being entertained by “One of the most celebrated teams working in the Lowcountry!” –  Award-winning sister act Gracie & Lacy.

Day 7 – Friday, April 13, 2018 – Richmond VA

Enjoy Breakfast and depart for Richmond, VA to stay for our final overnight.

Day 8 – Saturday, April 14, 2018 – Depart for Home

Do you have a seating preference for the motor coach?

Check out our seat assignment policy page for our seating chart. If no preference is made, your seat will be assigned by Wade Tours.
